Tropic Hopper Air
by Migs & Walther, published: 9/23/2011
ISLA ENCANTADA - In less than a month after his resignation, [SAP]Barry has decided to form a new airline named Tropic Hopper Air.
The new airline will focus on island-hopping operations in the tropical islands of San Andreas. Their flights will be revolutionary in the SAP airline market for it will consist of an island-hopping trip than an one destination only trip.
At the moment, the crew consists of [SAP]Barry (CEO), and pilots [SAP]Mixcraft & [SAP]DPhelps. They promise to hire the less experienced pilots who need to learn the skills necessary to participate in the longer-haul flights. Tropic Hopper Air also aims to introduce a more flexible staff policy for those who cannot devote much time to SAP.
They are now an approved official Class D airline and will set their base of operations at Island Encantada (also known as ISL3) with their first Beagle (G-THAA) being delivered soon.

A new approach to ticket sales
by Walther, published: 9/26/2011
LIGHTMAN ISLAND - JMX Travel, the oldest airline at SAP, decided to introduce a hybrid approach to ticket sales. From now on, they sell tickets both at their booking service and at the check-in desk. The main advantage for those who decide to spend their time filling out the booking forms is the ability to skip the check-in and head straight to the gate. However, this feature is reported to be temporary and only available on the scheduled Saturday Night Flights that have been operating under the buy-your-ticket-at-the-check-in-desk JMX Express programme.

airAndreas and Tropic Hopper Air become official, KFly on its way to full official status
by Walther, published: 9/26/2011
SAPI - Two new players have emerged in the airline market. airAndreas, the low-cost airline, and Tropic Hopper Air have both received their separate boards at SAP forums. While Tropic Hopper Air has received their Beagle and the service station, no such developments have occurred for airAndreas. Furthermore, both airlines remain silent on recruitment issues or any upcoming flights.
It has also been reported that KFly, another start-up airline, has been approved (although they are yet to receive their separate child-board). They are to be based at the Marathon Keys Airport, operating a Nevada from there. It is likely that they might lock horns with airAndreas, due to the usage of the same homebase. It's time to bet on who will do the first flight!

A livery clash or a new partnership?
by Walther, published: 9/27/2011
ISLA ENCANTADA - a brand new plane belonging to Tropic Hopper Air (tail number: G-THAB) has been spotted at the ISL3 airport. Remarkable is the fact that its livery closely follows that of airAndreas. Could it mean a new close partnership like the one forged between the now-defunct HKB and the former powerhouse JMX, or is it just a livery clash between two emerging carriers?

HighFlyer: "It is either a sabotage or just a pure coincidence."
by Walther, published: 9/27/2011
MARATHON KEYS - a statement has been received from HighFlyer, the CEO of airAndreas. We hope that this will clear up the recent stirrup caused by the Tropic Hopper Air decision to use livery similar to that of airAndreas.
"As far as I'm concerned, airAndreas colours do closely resemble the ones Tropic Hopper Air acquired, however it is either a sabotage on the competition front or just a pure coincidence - there was no talks about a partnership. We are however open to conversation on a possible partnership"
Tropic Hopper Air are yet to release a statement of their own. However, we may ask one more question: aren't both airlines infringing the intellectual property rights of now-defunct FlySA, which happened to use exactly the same livery less than one year ago? Expect an update from airBanana, the successor of FlySA, as well as a few words from the defunct airline's crew!

'Livery clash' resolved: GTA:SA to blame
by Walther, published: 9/28/2011
ISLA ENCANTADA - It turns out that the reported 'livery clash' between airAndreas and Tropic Hopper Air has been caused by nothing other but the limited colours palette offered in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Also, it has been confirmed that no property rights have been violated, hence both airlines should be able to proceed with their operations.
[SAP]Barry, the CEO of Tropic Hopper Air told us during the interview:
"I don't see how a pair of colours, one being Dark Purple and Yellow, the other being Light Blue and Orange-Yellow can equate to "sabotage" if nothing of the sort was ever intended or discussed. The choice of colours were made just after the airline was made official. I chose them so they would match our logo . They were neither intended to mimic FlySA nor AA and should not be accused of such trivial things."
Indeed, a quick check shows that the livery of airAndreas is quite different from that of Tropic Hopper Air. However, the game's limitations caused the airlines to use the same kind of yellow which led to the 'clash' we have described before. Could it be prevented, why didn't Tropic use the green instead, that featured so prominently on their logo? Here's what [SAP]Barry says:
"There is only 2 choices of colours, and green was not opted for as:
a) There are already far too many green beagles around.
b) A turquoise colour is used by JMX in all it's branding."
It is impossible to agree more. And if still there are voices who say that someone could lay claim to the liveries of these airlines, they'd better read what [SAP]DPhelps, one of the founders ofairBanana, says:
"AB has nothing to do with FlySA. FlySA was a completely different airline and collapsed after we started I believe, or right before. Either way, the only relation to us is that we took over some of their Shamals."
As for [SAP]Steveo91, the founder of FlySA, he would not give a [censored] about the colours being similar. Furthermore, "no airline has the "rights" or "owns" a pair of colours. Especially one that closed a long time ago. The only case that this may be objectionable and have to be changed, would be if the two conflicting schemes were on two separate operating airlines. This is simply resolved by the person overseeing the third party airlines."
Despite the apparent similarities between Tropic Hopper Air and airAndreas liveries, it would be unwise to raise this issue ever again. After all, they operate completely different aircraft and have a totally different approach to their flights' organisation. So we wish both to service a lot of happy passengers and we would like to apologise to all parties for any disturbances caused. Have a safe flight!

New ejection seat system
by Migs, published: 9/28/2011
LAS VENTURAS - The San Andreas Air Force has unveiled it's new ejection system that is currently being added in their Hydra fighter jets. The new ejection seat features an easy-to-operate mechanism that requires a push of the ejection button located in the joystick which launches the pilot out of the plane at a safe height with a parachute. This new device helps to reduce the number of accidents caused by problematic bail-outs from the Air Force fighter jets. According to a spokesman for the Air Force, the device was designed by [SAP]Sgt.
UPDATE: A more widely used method of operation is the input of /ej command in the board computer. However, it is much safer to bind a macro to the joystick button, as suggested in the newHydra operations manual.

airBanana anniversary flight confirmed!
by Walther, published: 9/28/2011
SAN FIERRO - Perhaps the biggest event in a few months has been finally announced. airBanana - the largest, the most entertaining and the most successful airline to ever exist at SAP server will celebrate its first anniversary on Friday, 30th of September, 2011. Not only they have published their exciting event programme, but also, a whole bunch of positive changes has been announced.
The celebrations will be carried out with in full swing. The bright star of San Fierro airport, the AB-FAT will carry up to 72 passengers straight to San Andreas Pilots' Island, where the new secondary base of airBanana is located. From there, two brand new banana beagles will perform multiple flights carrying all the passengers to a SECRET island. An entertainment program will feature a boat race, a boat trip, the widely popular airBanana Lottery and much more! You'd better jump from the cliffs of Mt. Chilliad if you don't make it to this event!
As for changes, they may be both liked by passengers & future employees, and feared by competitors. The good news is that you no longer need to keep record of the flights you've been on, since airBanana will do it for you. Also, we ourselves won't have to move around too much if we need another statement from them - the new airBanana headquarters are now located in San Fierro, right where ours are. The other news - although they should not concern the passengers at all - is that their testing system has been updated to include the tests for Beagle pilots. It seems that Tropic Hopper Air will finally face some heavy competition. Yet, if you have been unable to join that airline, the doors of airBanana will be open for you!
So let's brace ourselves for impac... I mean the festival, and let's see if airBanana will keep their promises. Have a nice time!
