San Andreas Flight Center is shut down by authorities
by Walther, published 01/05/2012
BLUEBERRY - It seems that reincarnations of previously defunct organisations somehow don't manage to achieve much success. This time it is San Andreas Flight Center (also known as SAFC), the flying club that was supposed to revive the Flying Eagles' heritage by organizing cross-county flights as a flying club. The ambitious plans also included air taxi service, fixed base of operations providing aircraft maintenance at Bluberry Airfield, and even a flight school that was supposed to compete with the San Andreas Air Academy.
Unfortunately, none of these plans became reality due to the inactivity of CEO, cpgop. Hopefully, his next business venture will be more successful. As for now, another bit of history will enter the archives of SAP Forums.

Jzeero publishes The Fuel Efficiency and Range of Aircraft study
by Walther, published 03/05/2012
One of the new players known as Jzeero has carried out an independent study, researching the range and fuel consumption of the fixed-wing aircraft at SAP. The most surprising result was that certain aircraft showed no difference in fuel consumption when flying with engines idle or at full throttle. Also, a small guide was written on how to use VOR efficiently, which, obviously, involves a certain amount of high school math. Therefore, airlines may soon start assessing the mathematical skills of each pilot - with such a low passenger traffic, everything must be done to ensure that the flights are commercially viable. If you want to get that advantage, do not hesitate and start reading here!

SAP Newsletter is introduced - The Big Update is close to release!
by Walther, published 08/05/2012
Those who don't check their email too often perhaps should start doing this, because SAP Developer [SAP]Chris has set up an automatic system that would send out an official SAP newsletter to all the players every month. The information included in it covers everything related to major updates and any other important developments on the server.
The first issue brings us some exciting news: It is officially confirmed that the Big Update is very close to the release! Also, there are two other major updates in the works - the move to SAMP 0.3e, which offers the ability to add revolutionary improvements to gameplay, as well as a brand-new panel, which is being created by [SAP]Chris himself.
SANA welcomes the introduction of the newsletter, as it provides the summary of the most important developments to players who have been inactive, and whom we as an organisation are unable to reach (we focus on keeping busy/returning players updated). Also, we would like to thank Chris for acknowledging our work as the news agency at SAP. It is a big honor for our organisation.

Nodroz resigns as the CEO of BoNo, introducing a few leadership changes
by Walther, published: 09/05/2012
ROCK ISLAND - After almost 2 years of leading BoNo Airlines, the founder and the CEO [SAP]Nodroz has announced his resignation, leaving Royal in charge of airline, and promoting [SAP]Matty to the position of COO.
The decision is not surprising, as Nodroz has previously expressed his intention to resign in the first half of 2012, due to the lack of time necessary to run the airline. However, this does not mean he is leaving the airline like the other co-founder Boom did. Instead, he will remain in the airline as a staff member, will participate in the leadership meetings, and play a part in important decisions. We hope that this change will help BoNo become more active.

24 Hours of SAPRC delayed until July, qualifying next week ... WAIT! WHA!?
by Walther, published: 10/05/2012
LAS VENTURAS - San Andreas Pilots' Racing Club has announced further delays for the widely anticipated 24 hours of SAPRC race, which has become notorious for being continuously postponed, starting from last Christmas season. This time, technical issues, although present, are not the main cause. The exam season has arrived and many of the participants would rather spend another day studying rather than trying to outrun the others in a 3D model resembling Ford GT40, with the unresolved exam questions still in their heads. Since exam schedules vary across the globe, it was decided that July would be the best time for the race.
UPDATE: It was originally planned that the qualifying sessions would take place next week. However, when sorting out technical issues, [SAP]Torran managed to lose ALL the versions of the race gamemode, and all the filterscripts. SAPRC management should be extremely pleased to have exam session interfering with the original plans now. We do hope that some of the earlier versions might be in the hands of other senior SAPRC members, yet, at the moment the situation does not look good. If you are still expecting to win the Most Epic FAIL nomination at the next SANA Seasonal Awards, you have a serious competitor to beat!

JMX Travel pulls out 7 jobs for "cleanup" purposes.
by CraHeX, published 10/05/2012
After resuming activity last year, JMX Travel SA are struggling to restructure their operations. As a part of their effort to provide a better quality standard they had to retrain and recount the crew, setting up a re-test period going on for 6 weeks. 7 employees failed to retake any of the tests which were obligatory to take, resulting in their removal from the airline. An interview with both Executive Directors, [SAP]Gz0r and [SAP]Walther, is shown here below.

CraHeX: So, as far as I've understood, the staff of JMX has been reduced from 14 to 7 by leaving 7 employees jobless. What was the main reason to fire them out of position?
[SAP]Gz0r: Since we are regaining business again we'll need dedication and help from inside, we have been contacting our staff for a while and some of them failed to prove their dedication. They are always able to rejoin when they are willing to get active. C: If they rejoin, will they be - without training - getting into the same position as where they were kicked out from? Leaving a danger for the passengers? G: No, when staff members rejoin they will have to take every single test they need to get into the same position as where they were leaving from. C: If I'm right those tests are based on a higher level? [SAP]Walther: Not only on a higher level though. We had a change of crew procedures for each person on flight. Therefore, with their old training, they would be unable to carry out their duties. |
C: If I read your company's announcement, I see that you tried to improve the service standards. Why did you have to improve the service standards from what is has been before?
W: Since the reactivation of JMX last May, not all of the crew members were able to carry out their duties up to standards. Also, we had an issue where the Captain of the flight would be in charge, while most of our pilots prefered to focus on flying the plane. C: Will these changes -firing 7 employees- affect the amount of flights delivered per month, the price per passenger and delays? G: Nothing will be affected with our actions to fire 7 of our crew members. But due to fuel prices growing we still try to maintain the cheapest prices for flights as possible. C: Thanks to both for your time. |
Team registration for 24 Hours of SAPRC is closed
by Walther, published: 17/05/2012
LAS VENTURAS - The announcement at the San Andreas Pilots' Racing Club section of SAP forums has made it clear that no more new teams are allowed to register for the race, as the gamemode is close to being completed. However, this does not mean that a non-registered member has no hopes of participating in the race.
According to COO [SAP]Torran, the only limitation is the number of teams, which is to be fixed at 8, each consisting of two drivers. Therefore, if anyone is to pull out of the race, they can be replaced by anyone else (even when both drivers are unable to participate). It is also very likely that team name/car color changes will be possible. However, it is still unclear what will happen if the driver who sets the team's best time during qualifying sessions is to pull out. At the moment there are rumors that the team might start last at the grid or do the qualifying again. It has also been suggested that the remaining driver's time is used to determine the grid position. It is also unknown what kind of procedure will be followed if both drivers are to pull out.

SANA suspends the coverage of 24h of SAPRC
by Walther, published: 19/05/2012
SAN FIERRO - Due to the recent problems with the organisation of the 24 hours of SAPRC endurance race, and multiple, sometimes conflicting announcements of the new date for the qualifying sessions/main race, it was decided by SANA Council to suspend the coverage of the event, until the gamemode is completed. This is being done to prevent misleading information from reaching our readers. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. SAP Celebrates the 6th Birthday - THE BIG UPDATE IS BEING RELEASED TODAY!
by Walther, published: 26/05/12
The moment for which everybody has been waiting for almost a year, has finally arrived: after hundreds of hours of meetings, scripting and testing, the SAP Council are revealing their biggest creation ever: the SAP Flights 2.0. You can read the full announcement here.
It is a whole new version of SAP Flights gamemode, which is radically different from what it used to be: server economy is being introduced. Now, there is a huge amount of things to do, players can complete various missions, take aircraft license tests and do many other things instead of free-roaming.
The team is still working on a patch designed specifically for airlines and organisations, so it would be wise for their leaders not to jump the gun and better focus on understanding the new server economy. The update is still in experimental state, so do expect for many features to be introduced, changed or even removed (if the players will not like them). However, the general expectation is, that SAP Flights 2.0 will start a new era in our long-living community. Enjoy!
